Hello and welcome! We are the Buy Nowt LS6 Library of 'Things', a pay-as-you-feel community initiative, created by a group of local volunteers in order to encourage local people to borrow instead of buying the things they need.

When are you open and where is Buy Nowt LS6 Library of Things?

We are open Friday 4-6pm and Saturday 1-4pm. Find our location here.

How can I become a member of the Buy Nowt Library of Things?

Become a member online here. Please choose a pay-as-you-feel monthly donation between £0-£20. If you choose a paying membership, please make sure to input your card details and tick the "keep card details on file" button, otherwise your payment won't go through after the first month.

Bring an ID with your name and address on it the first time you visit us.

Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. However, we greatly appreciate our paying monthly members — they are crucial for the sustainability of our fabulous community project.

Who can become a member?

Memberships are open to residents of LS6 and the neighbouring postcodes of LS2, LS3, LS4, LS5, LS7 & LS16. If you don't live in these areas but feel you have a strong "connection" to LS6, please email us explaining your connection and we will review your request.

How much should I donate to borrow an item?

We operate using a pay-as-you-feel model. If you are financially able to, please donate what you can because our project runs from your kind donations. We have a guide to help you decide, but please note this is simply guidance — donation amounts are always your choice.

How long can I borrow an item for?

Our loan periods are between 1-2 weeks. Members are encouraged to return items on time as another borrower may be waiting. We do not charge late fees as we entrust borrowers to be respectful.

Is it possible for me to cancel my reservation?

Yes, certainly. You can log in and cancel it yourself or contact us.

What happens if I damage an item?

At Buy Nowt, we act from a place of trust. Normal wear and tear of items happens, and if an item stops working whilst in your care, pop us a message. More details about damaged items can be found in our Borrowing Agreement, which you sign when you join.

Where do the items come from?

Our aim is to operate predominately with generous community donations from people downsizing, moving, or cleaning up basements, sheds, and garages. So far, Buy Nowt has only purchased fewer than 20 brand new items.

Can I reserve items?

Yes. Once you become a member, you'll be able to browse the inventory and reserve your item. Collection and drop-off must be on a Friday or a Saturday.

How do I delete my membership and/or unsubscribe from emails?

Pop us an email and we will be happy to do this for you. Unfortunately currently there is no functionality for members to do this themselves.
